Westpac’s landmark environment in Melbourne encourages its people to embrace a more efficient and effective workplace proposition that enables swift response to change. The workplace delivers on Westpac’s key business imperatives: to make people an important part of their advantage and to reinforce their leadership and sustainability focus. Situated in an iconic location at 150 Collins Street, Westpac’s new Melbourne headquarters allows the company to have a high profile city location that differentiates itself from competitors.

The Geyer designed environment is human centered, supporting Westpac’s focus on people as a significant part of their advantage. The people first approach involved translating Westpac’s WorkSMART strategy into the physical workplace. Geyer undertook a time utilisation study to determine the appropriate level of activity based working for Westpac to adopt given the nature of work within the building. The resulting design strategy focused on intuitive space planning based on natural human behaviours. A pilot floor tested the recommended level of activity-based working and has been a key tool in the change management strategy for the adoption of WorkSMART.
